The concept of a pigging cup with enhanced wear ability was conceived to address a common problem in the pigging industry. “Pipeline pigging cups should last longer”. The problem was presented to an independent Research and Development company and it was decided to see if, in fact, a cup could be designed and developed that would travel farther, carry more weight, and clean better while maintaining a tight seal to the pipe wall.
A new cup profile was designed to carry more weight. Another new profile was designed to provide better scraping and cleaning ability as well as a tighter seal. What remained was to make them last longer and travel farther.
One of the first experiments was to embed a wear resistant material into the carrying surfaces of the cup. After several months of lab testing different urethanes and additives, it became apparent that the method of embedding a wear resistant belt in the carrying surface of the cup was clearly superior to all other efforts. Patent and Trademark were applied for and LINEBOAR was born.
Several test runs were performed in active pipelines, under some of the most severe conditions to be encountered, with results that went beyond even the developer’s expectations.
It is our promise that LINEBOAR will continue to try to enhance value for cost in all our pigging products
